Classification and Salary:
Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) - Park Maintenance Worker:
Based on 40 hours per week: $20.14 - $24.22 per hour
Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) - Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
Based on 40 hours per week: $24.68 - $30.16 per hour
In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
• 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

If you enjoy working outside and are committed to improving a visitor’s experience in provincial parks, come join our Maintenance Team. We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Park Maintenance Workers for the 2025 summer season. Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day-to-day operation of campgrounds, day use areas, facilities, and trail systems.
We are currently looking to hire:
Hinton – William A.
Switzer Provincial Park
• 1 Park Maintenance Crew Lead.
• Park Maintenance Workers.
Grande Cache – Pierre Grey’s Lakes Provincial Park, Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area
• 1 Park Maintenance Crew Lead (oversees both areas).
• Park Maintenance Workers (works in both areas).
As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Performing landscaping and site servicing of campgrounds, day use areas, and facilities.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment.
• Conducting water testing for small water systems.
• Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, pressure washers, ATVs, UTVs.
• Assisting with trail maintenance, beach and dock maintenance.
• Installing and maintaining signage.
• Painting.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.
• Assisting with hazard tree management and invasive plant management programs.
• Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent occupational health & safety (OH&S;) policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.
As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting with and performing (MSW1) duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks:
• Onsite lead for a crew of MSW staff; being accountable for direct site operations and providing input for task scheduling for other staff.
• Assisting with formal inspections, maintenance, and servicing of equipment.
• Completing trail maintenance projects.
• Maintaining roads and parking lot areas.
• Assisting with playground routine inspections and maintenance.
• Installing and removing docks, maintaining beaches.
• Operating heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, skid steers, garbage trucks, etc.
• Assisting with water and wastewater system start-up/shut down.
All positions will require you to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. You must have good physical stamina to be able to perform manual duties outdoors and in any type of weather conditions.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Park Maintenance Worker – Maintenance Service Worker 1
• Some high school education or directly related experience.
Park Maintenance Crew Lead – Maintenance Service Worker 3
• Some high school education or related training, plus two years of related experience.
Additional Requirements:
• A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Prior to hire, recognized current Intermediate Standard First Aid and CPR Level "C"/AED Certificate will be required.
Terms of Employment:
• For the Park Maintenance Worker role: Late April start date to September end date.
• For the Park Maintenance Crew Lead role: April start date to October end date.
