The Garry Hurvitz Centre for Community Mental Health at SickKids (GH-CCMH) is a child and youth mental health centre at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). GH-CCMH is also a core service provider in the Toronto area of community mental health service providers for children and youth. As such, the Centre has an ambitious agenda to provide the highest quality, evidence-based care,



offering a range of services from prevention and early intervention to counselling and therapy, assessment and intensive supports. Services are offered in person and in virtual format. As an employer, the Centre strives to reflect the many diverse cultures and identities we represent among the children, youth and families we serve and seeks to provide an inclusive and equitable workplace.

We are looking for candidates for a full-time bilingual therapist position for children and families. The Child and Family Therapist provides direct mental health treatment services, including individual, family or group treatment, as well as case management, primarily in French. CCSM SickKids has a partnership with the Centre francophone to offer these services. This position will be based largely at the Centre francophone.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Therapeutic Services

- Provide individual assessment, treatment and follow-up services to children and youth aged 0 to 18 in a given area.
- Provide individual, family or group therapy to children and youth aged 0 to 18 in a given area.
- Provide case management,



liaison and referral services to internal and external clients, completing supporting documentation in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate services with internal and external service providers, and request and review documents and reports to inform clients of services and treatment plans.
- Work with families, supervisors and inter-professional teams to develop services that support treatment plans.
- Attend quarterly conferences with staff and families who may be accompanied by other staff members or supervisors.
- Prepare client documents and submit report information in accordance with established procedures and deadlines.
- Provide academic expertise in leading, teaching and training teams, students or volunteers and evaluate functions.




- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapeutic services and recommended practices in the sector.
- Make decisions related to clients’ treatment needs and ongoing intervention techniques.

- Respect the organization’s vision, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.

THE EFFORT

- Daily concentration and creativity required to prepare documents, listen, attend meetings, mediate conflicts, develop treatment plans, etc.
- Sitting at a desk and in sessions with clients to perform work tasks, as well as moving objects or lifting books to file them.

SKILLS

- Bilingual in French and English – Advanced ability to read, write and speak French and English.
- Graduate degree in a mental health discipline and at least three years of related clinical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional College Membership.




- Good verbal and written communication skills to provide therapeutic services to clients and families.
- Good problem-solving ability to analyze clients’ complex problems and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated competence in therapeutic engagement and behaviour-based interventions.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR, UMAB and behaviour management techniques is an asset.
- Good knowledge of MS Office suites (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as the ability to effectively use office equipment (telephone, scanner, photocopier and fax).
- Ability to integrate practical competency values into culture, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work.
- Ability to participate in physical activities related to role-playing, board games, etc., as well as perform and implement physical restraints in accordance with training, if necessary.




- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel to a variety of locations, including clients.
