Bevo Farms Ltd. is the largest supplier of propagated plants in North America. It provides greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, vigorous, pest- and disease-free plants. Bevo operates four facilities in the lower mainland of British Columbia and two facilities in the province of Alberta.
Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our procurement team. The Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. The role is critical in finding and maintaining efficiencies in our pre-finished and finished floral program,
ensuring a seamless flow of raw materials for our production team. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, lead procurement and inventory management with precision, manage a large budget, and work with ERP/software.
Responsibilities
1. Procurement: Identify the company's purchasing needs and perform market research to find potential suppliers. Request quotes, analyze bids, and select suppliers that offer the best quality, price, and delivery value.
2. Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules. Strive to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
3. Purchase Orders: Prepare and process purchase orders. Ensure the accuracy of order details and maintain proper documentation.
4. Supplier Management: Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
5. Inventory Management:
Collaborate with the production team to monitor stock levels and ensure timely material replenishment. By maintaining optimal inventory levels, avoid overstocking and stockouts.
6. Cost Management: Track and manage procurement costs. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement strategies to achieve cost savings.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure purchased products and services meet the required specifications and quality standards. Address any non-conformities with suppliers promptly.
8. Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and importing/customs/brokerage requirements.
9. Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and cost savings.
Required Skills Or Experience
1. Education in Supply Chain Management/or Business Degree
2.
Professional certification in supply chain management (CPSM, CPIM)
3. Proven experience as a Supply Manager, Purchaser, or similar procurement role.
4. Strong negotiation skills and ability to build/maintain relationships.
5. Proven experience with ERP software and inventory management.
6. Authorization to work full-time in Canada.
7. A keen eye for detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
8. Effective time management skills.
9. Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal.
