Reporting to the national Provost and stationed at the BC campus, the regional Principal & Vice President, Academic - British Columbia will have strategic accountabilities for developing and implementing the University’s mission in BC, particularly focusing on faculty excellence, the student experience, and the growth of career-relevant programs.
The Principal & VPA is responsible for leading the academic operations of the campus/region, including:
1. Building a team of high-performing academic leaders.
2. Ensuring successful regulatory reviews of proposed and existing programs.
3. Building a cohesive campus culture with an ethos of student service.
4. Engaging faculty through mentorship and development.
5. Overseeing academic program development and day-to-day academic operations.
6. Engaging effectively with external stakeholders, including alumni, government, professional accrediting bodies, employers, and the local community.
The Principal & VPA’s direct leadership team includes the Dean of Business and the Chair of Liberal Arts. This role works closely with the BC campus registrar and student services, as well as central leadership.
The Principal & VPA chairs the British Columbia academic Senate and is a member of the University Academic Council and the Provost’s Academic Leadership Team.
The Principal & VPA is the academic campus leader and representative in the community of New Westminster and serves as the primary link between Yorkville University and the Ministry of Post-secondary Education and Future Skills. All programs anchored in British Columbia provide on-campus and fully online offerings, serving a primarily international student population.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
1. Earned doctorate from a recognized university.
2. Senior management experience in academia, including experience with academic program development and management.
3. Strong collaborative skills and academic business acumen.
4.
Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and learning strategies, course and program development, and student services.
5. Experience in people leadership, including team collaboration and performance management.
6. Experience working in dynamic settings with multiple transformation initiatives.
7. Advanced verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
