Job Description

Wood is looking to add a Senior Project/Mechanical Engineer in Calgary, AB as part of our busy and growing Oil, Gas & New Energies Canada team due to growth in our business! This position will require the candidate to have a strong technical background in the oil and gas midstream market segment.

As the Project/Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing proposals and plans that will be used to execute engineering deliverables, then lead and manage small projects to successful engineering completion. To aid in your success Wood has a cross-functional team of discipline Engineers, Designers and Technical Support staff.





The successful individual will need to have excellent skills in safety and risk management, communications, engineering deliverable management, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Having wide knowledge and varied experience as a Project/Mechanical Engineer, capable of mechanical, pipeline, piping, coordination, and even light process engineering, the individual will:

- Lead proposal requests and plans to execute projects to client requirements.
- Lead and manage small projects in the midstream segment of our business.
- Be client facing,



communicating clearly engineering/project status.
- Be capable of, or leading others in, taking on full package ownership as the Responsible Engineer for typical midstream mechanical equipment required for:

- Compression
- Water / Condensate Separation
- Amine Units
- Sulphur Removal
- Dehydration Units
- Fractionation
- Sour/Acid Gas
- Turbo-Expanders
- Sweetening Units

Coordinating and liaising with Wood engineering disciplines, the client and suppliers. Generating new Mechanical Package Specifications related to Midstream Packages Create, specify, and maintain Data Sheets for related package mechanical equipment Develop and compile Material Requisitions c/w specifications, scopes, and data sheets for bid and purchase Review quotations from suppliers and perform a Technical Bid Evaluation of the equipment offered.



Provide Technical Assessments and Recommendations when required. Post purchase order placement package management, including review and approval of supplier documentation for the equipment. Visit the supplier’s shop or the client’s site, as required. Develop Construction Work Packages specific to mechanical scope.
Qualifications

- Must have an engineering degree and be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA.
- 7+ years of combined experience as a Project / Mechanical Engineer role in an EPC or EPCM company.
- Canadian experience in the Midstream market segment is a must, with knowledge and experience with relevant mechanical equipment packages.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Proven team player with strong oral and written communication skills




- Able to engage directly and positively with customers and build customer relationships
- Knowledge of industry codes: ASME, API and Canadian Codes.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada at the time of application.
