Reporting to the national Provost and stationed at the BC campus, the regional Principal & Vice President, Academic - British Columbia will have strategic accountabilities for developing and implementing the University’s mission in BC, particularly Yorkville’s commitment to faculty excellence, the student experience, and the growth of career-relevant programs. The Principal & VPA is responsible for leading academic operations for the campus/region, including:
1. Building a team of high-performing academic leaders.
2. Ensuring successful regulatory reviews of proposed and existing programs.
3. Building a cohesive campus culture with an ethos of student service.
4. Faculty engagement, mentorship, and development.
5. Academic program development.
6. Day-to-day oversight of all academic operations.
7. Effective engagement with external stakeholders, including alumni, government, professional accrediting bodies, and the local community.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Earned doctorate from a recognized university.
- Senior management experience in academia, including experience with academic program development and management.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work in a complex environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and learning strategies, course and program development, and student services.
- Experience in people leadership, including team collaboration, fostering inclusive working environments, and performance management.
- Experience working in highly dynamic settings with multiple transformation initiatives.
- Advanced verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
