The Child Youth and Family Services (CYFS) at CAMH is located in our Intergenerational Wellness Building at the redeveloped Queen Street Site of CAMH. As an integral part of the ambitious growth agenda for CAMH, the Child and Family Services teams serve children, youth and emerging adults who have mental health and/or addiction challenges along with their families and caregivers. These services are closely aligned with our Research Centres including the McCain Centre for Child, Youth and Family Mental Health and the Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression.

Position Description:
CYFS is currently seeking a part-time, contract (1 year) Counsellor Therapist 2 to work with children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 15,



and their parents, as part of a clinical research project. Reporting to the service manager, you will act as a member of a dynamic, inter-professional outpatient team, and be responsible for the provision of services such as managing referrals and triage, assessment, service navigation, short-term individual therapy, case management functions, and completion of required documentation. Clinical services will be provided in-person.

You will receive training in an evidence-based treatment program called MATCH-ADTC (Modular Approach to Treatment for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems) and will participate in ongoing group consultation on the use of MATCH-ADTC.

You will be expected to assist in the program’s research activities, and will support the inter-professional team and community outreach initiatives. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. The position may require some flexibility in work hours, possibly with some evening hours.



The position is located at the Queen Street site.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in psychology, social work, occupational therapy combined with a preferred minimum of 1-3 years post-graduate clinical experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment. Clinical experience with children and/or adolescents is required, along with experience with cognitive behavioural therapy and other evidence-based treatments.

As a registered member in good standing with a regulated health care discipline, the candidate must show proof of registration with the respective College (e.g. College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO),



or College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO). For Registered Psychotherapists with RP(Q) or RP Without Independent Practice status, Social Worker/Social Service Worker, Occupational Therapist and Psychology incumbents who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity.

Your skills include the ability to implement a structured, manualized CBT-informed skill-building intervention effectively with children and adolescents whose presentations include anxiety, depression, and/or challenging behaviours. You will be expected to contribute to program development, research and educational activities of the service. Strong interpersonal skills,



and the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively (verbal and written) are required. The ability to provide culturally competent service to clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is essential. Candidates will also possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and within a team, have the ability to communicate effectively. Candidates will have strong writing and presentation skills, be able to meet deadlines, and have excellent computer skills including word processing, electronic communication. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
