Position: Project based / Full-Time (4 months)
Work Schedule: Pre-Turnaround - 4 on and 3 off, working 10 hours per day / Turnaround - 6 on and 1 off, working 12 hours per day

Job Purpose
The Turnaround (TA)
Manager must be actively engaged in all execution of Turnaround maintenance activities at the Shell Scotford Site in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. This includes customer relationship management, work execution and project progress, TA planning and organization, quality, health, safety, and environment policy implementation. The primary role of the TA Manager will be to functionally support the Site Manager by analyzing performance metrics, to help identify opportunities to improve efficiencies, as well as triage areas that require improvement. Responsibilities:
- Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
- Contributes to the development of the team of individuals executing turnaround maintenance.
- Provides oversight of all aspects of turnaround execution – inclusive of Pre-TA, TA and Post TA activities.
- Chairs internal readiness meetings during Pre-TA time – completes a “readiness” Gap Analysis,
develops Action Item deliverable Log and assigns close out responsibilities.
- Analyzes and interprets productivity metrics reports and provides input on operational improvements to maximize efficiencies, as well as helps to identify and triage “heat zones” that require focused improvements.
- Exercises due diligence in review of customer contract and specifications to ensure that our internal processes and procedures are compliant.
- Assists with reviewing all site expenditures associated with the Turnaround.
- Works with our customers to establish our planning & scheduling workflow.
- Oversees the preparation and maintenance of Turnaround schedules and plans.
- Administers and/or participates in all Waiward internal Turnaround coordination meetings.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Education, Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in related field.
- 15 or more years of related turnaround and/or maintenance experience.
- 5 or more years’ experience as a Turnaround Manager or in a progressive supervisory role.
- Experience working with unionized labour and under collective agreements.
- Proficient with common industry software including Microsoft Office suite, Primavera etc.
- Good understanding of project controls and interpreting EVM metrics
- Strong collaboration skills and an ability to exercise good judgement, aligned with our corporate values.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and in an appropriate style.
- Capable of identifying straightforward problems, generating possible solutions and assessing those solutions against the company’s standard procedures and guidelines.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize a large workload.
Working Conditions
This position will be based at the Shell Scotford Site in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta working with site leadership. Incumbent will have to be able to go where site leaders need to go to ensure all metrics are captured and processes implemented of the workforce (Some heights, consistently in and around maintenance work).
Physical Requirements
The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.
The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
