Clark Builders is hiring an Accounts Payable Analyst Co-op student to work alongside the accounts payable subcontract and project accounting teams. The successful candidate will be involved in processing subcontract invoicing and have several daily responsibilities that contribute to the team. This will be a 4 or 8-month work term starting May 2025.

Reports to: Accounting Manager - Operational Finance





Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Subcontract Tasks:

Accurate and timely entry of subcontract values and change orders into accounting system (eCMS)

Reconciliation of monthly progress billings submitted by Subcontractors

Processing holdback billings for subcontracts

Validate accuracy of calculations presented by Subcontractors (Familiarity with progress billings process is a bonus)

Reviewing aged AP items

Creating and maintain Subcontract files

Project Accounting:

Assist the project accountants by compiling backup for owner billings

Move accounts payable costs at the direction of the project accountants

Skills and Knowledge:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment

Excellent time management and problem solving skills

Attention to detail and analytical skills

Self-starter who takes initiative and achieves results

Thrives in a faced paced environment, with tight deadlines at certain times in the accounting cycle

Qualifications:

General knowledge basic accounting principles





Pursuing a post-secondary diploma/degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Daily:

Communication: Liaise with team members, management, Accounting and Operations.

Interdepartmental support: Assisting accounts payable, project accounting, or payroll with reconciliations, document control or processing.

Accounts receivable: Application of payments to outstanding invoices (cash receipts).

Lean mindset: Seek continuous improvements and improved processes.

Documentation: Maintain procedural documentation for all areas of responsibilities.

Compliance: Adhere to Clark Builders’ policies and procedures.

Accounting standards: Ensure company adherence to ASPE.

Skills & Knowledge:

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

General knowledge basic accounting principles.

Pursuing a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Basic understanding of Excel functions and/or VBA coding would be an asset.

Exposure or understanding of principles of lean thinking and continuous improvement is an asset.
