We are looking for a detail-oriented senior accountant to perform accounting duties within our organization. A Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that accounts and financial records meet the requirements of Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPO). Their duties include financial analysis, recording and verifying transactions, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing financial statements and internal management reports, supporting the funder reporting process, facilitating budgeting and forecasting processes, assisting with external audits, and supporting Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff.
This position is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Monday- Friday.
This role is eligible for a Hybrid work arrangement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial data and prepare monthly financial statements, internal reports, and funder reports.
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting and seamless day-to-day operation.
- Facilitate budgeting processes through tools and financial analysis.
- Support budget owners with financial data and updates.
- Coordinate staffing budget updates with HR/Payroll.
- Prepare month-end journal entries and support coding and processing of transactions.
- Complete fundraising and gift card inventory reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, including payroll and credit card transactions.
- Manage cash flow, EFT payments, bank transfers, wire transfers, RRSP payments, and PAD processing.
- Prepare bi-weekly CRA remittance, quarterly GST returns, annual charity information filings, and audit documentation.
- Assist with external audits and financial policy and procedure development.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures and retain proper documentation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and or accounting designation in progress.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Knowledge of ASNPO and financial reporting for not-for-profits preferred.
- Proven ability in financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
- Experience leveraging systems for process improvement.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator with collaborative leadership abilities.
