The Licensed Practical Nurse for PCU 111 requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs. In collaboration with a strong multidisciplinary health care team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides holistic care to neurological, neurosurgical, and stroke patients in the acute care phase. The Licensed Practical Nurse - Neurosciences, PCU 111 provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients and families, for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health and preventing illness, injury and disability. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
LPN Diploma required. Minimum 2 years’ experience working on an acute inpatient neurological unit required. NIH certification required. TORBSST certification required. Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities required. Experience working with SCM required. Strong communication skills are required. Basic computer skills are required.
Clinical expertise in the nursing care of patients with neurological conditions an asset. Seizure monitoring unit experience an asset.
