Position Overview:
Reporting to the Execitive Vice-President, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Transportation, the Divisional Vice President Transportation leads and coordinates all transportation activities across RONA national and international network. They are responsible for the development and implementation of the transportation components of the overall supply chain strategy to support the strong growth strategy of the organization. They are responsible for developing capabilities and other initiatives to improve the transportation network’s performance over a multi-year horizon leveraging transportation processes, infrastructure, and other enablers.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead the Transportation function for RONA including all inbound and outbound movements, third-party operations, and imports from more than 1,200 suppliers, 12 distribution centres, and more than 400 stores across Canada





Develop plans for optimized inbound and outbound flows and schedules for Transportation and Distribution and tracks performance to plan

Ensure import flows and schedules are met to ensure merchandise availability in stores

Assume responsibility for ensuring the flawless delivery of merchandise to customers’ homes or job sites

Optimize third-party contractual agreements under their responsibility and ensure compliance

Act as a role model for the company culture with a strong focus on the customer

Lead a diverse team of directors and managers to achieve operational and strategic goals within their area of responsibility

Actively work on succession planning with their management team (including annual performance reviews, quarterly updates, and follow-up on development plans)

Work to ensure Employee Opinion Survey (EOS)



scores are improved and Voice teams are empowered to implement change

Lead the annual budget planning process for the Transportation Department

Maintain and manage the budget for the Transportation Department (including revising forecasts)

Optimise Cost VS Performance ratio for the Transportation Departement while maintening compliance to all regulation in place

Create, monitor, and reports on a daily, weekly, and periodical basis distribution key performance indicators such as service level agreements and cost objectives

Work with all stakeholder on Last Mile delivery strategy to optimise costs while optimising performance and service level

Regularly report on transportation performance to the executive team and other stakeholders





Identify and lead strategic process improvement efforts as they relate to management processes, planning, and execution systems within Transportation

Provide monthly updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiatives

Coordinate all cross-functional programs with Merchandising, Distribution, Supply Chain, Store Operations, and other areas as required

Ensure the deployment of cutting-edge distribution strategy in the context of our omnichannel strategy

Use transportation management systems and related operating systems to improve productivity, rationalize transportation flows, and meet operational efficiency objectives

Qualification Standards:

Minimum 4-year Bachelor's degree in logistics, operations, or business administration (an MBA is preferred)

15 years supply chain management and distribution experience in comparable industries,



with 4 years in a senior management position

Experience in a large multi-facility distribution network

Experience managing owned and third-party transportation fleets

Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels

Exceptional leadership skills

Excellent oral and written skills in French and English

Excellent negotiation skills

Superior analytical skills, particularly in the area of financial and strategic analysis

Ability to interface effectively with management at all levels of the organization

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
