The General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is focused on improving the quality of care and access to appropriate care within the mental health and addictions system.
The General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division is seeking a casual Scientific Associate to work on a number of observational, quasi-experimental and experimental studies using mixed methods to examine the outcomes of health interventions for disadvantaged populations. The successful candidate will oversee data collection and management, supervise trainees to achieve research goals and enhance CAMH reputation in the field of mental health research as it pertains to disadvantaged populations.
The work will also involve collaborations to ensure the effective dissemination of project findings to external stakeholders. The Scientific Associate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Scientist with the submission of publications and will also play a lead role in the submission of grant proposals to external funding agencies. This also includes involvement in the preparation of progress reports, working with project consultants and preparing presentations, project reports, and publications for peer-reviewed journals. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position will be located at 1001 Queen Street.
The successful candidate will have a PhD and/or MD in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Health Services Research, or Public Health. The Scientific Associate must have one year of research experience in mental health and disadvantaged populations, including people experiencing homelessness.
A proven ability to write academic texts; and the ability to formulate materials suitable for wider audiences is required. The candidate must have an advanced understanding and application of concepts and techniques in intervention research methods in the area of health; solid grasp of essential health research design and data analysis methods and scientific data tools and management. The Scientific Associate must also have demonstrated ability to lead research project staff/students, along with proven reliability and team work ability. Ability to work in a diverse team setting and also independently is a must.
