Job Summary
The Finance Division is pleased to offer a Co-op Student opening for those candidates that are actively enrolled in a post-secondary program and have a keen interest in Investment Finance and Data Management. The Investment Data Governance Team within the Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations Department is accountable for the continued development of HOOPP’s approach to investment data management and establishing data standards, data governance and processes to ensure data that is published or consumed is timely, consistent, and accurate.
What you will do:
- Researching investment data flows and processes, understanding data transformations and creating data flow and process diagrams
- Identify existing and new data controls required within the investment data processes
- Developing HOOPP’s Data Dictionary;
- Researching data within the investment data warehouse, investment applications understanding the transformations; data lineage, business definition and documenting within the Data Dictionary;
- Assist in develop HOOPP’s data governance practice
- Researching information, maintaining spreadsheets and databases
- Interacting, collaborating and supporting other staff members
- Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to assist managers or team members.
What you will bring:
- Enrolled in a college or university program with a focus in data management or investment finance
- Completed 1 or more co-op or summer work terms
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; specifically in Excel.
- Good understanding of databases. Knowledge of MS SQL Server Tools, SQL language and/or Transact-SQL language or equivalent is a definite asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and completeness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with senior staff and external counterparties.
- Strong analytical, statistical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
