Job Summary
The Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management group is responsible for all collateral management functions for the entire portfolio across all business lines along with maintaining all securities lending activity for the firm. Collateral management is an essential function as HOOPP would be unable to implement desired investment strategies without depositing collateral with approved brokers in accordance with industry standards and agreements. The group is responsible for ensuring all HOOPP assets are tracked and accounted for with approximately $30 billion of assets lodged across 90+ counterparties.
The Analyst,
Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management will possess a strong knowledge of all investment products and strategies employed by HOOPP's Investment Management team as well as a general understanding of functions outside of the department such as accounting, valuation and performance in order to understand and validate the impact of Securities Lending and Collateral Management functions on downstream processes.
This role has a dual focus and requires the ability to work in a dynamic, high-paced environment with multiple priorities, functions, and deadlines. The Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the on-desk codebase, as well as executing daily tasks that support trading activities. Previous work experience in a technical coding environment is not required but is an asset.
You will need to demonstrate your ability to write code that can analyze data and produce charts, as well as a working knowledge of how to collaborate using a version control system such as Git. This can be through school or extracurricular projects.
What you will do:
- Help other analysts in the securities lending and collateral management function.
- Monitoring recalls and shorts
- Optimizing collateral pledged
- Assisting other analysts in monitoring collateral activities
- Maintaining relationships with counterparties
- Automating workflow for collateral process.
- Trade reconciliation and post-trade slippage reports
- Perform ad hoc analysis on broker and portfolio utilization rates and make recommendations for best allocation of collateral
- Identifying opportunities for improvement as it relates to Securities Lending and Collateral Management functions to mitigate operational risk.
This includes working with IT and the custodian to automate and enhance system functionality by documenting requirements and conducting extensive user acceptance testing.
- Collaborate with HOOPP’s technology team on internal technology projects supporting Balance Sheet & Liquidity Management
- Troubleshoot, enhance and suggest improvements to the existing process.
- Work on scripting for daily trade optimization and automation
- Automating day to day processes which will directly contribute to PnL
- Data analysis to assist the desk in daily hedging and trading
- Develop and maintain internal tools and libraries for the on-desk codebase
