Job Summary
The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a defined benefit (DB) pension plan that is dedicated to providing a secure retirement income to more than 460,000 members in Ontario’s healthcare sector. More than 677 employers across the province offer HOOPP to their employees.
HOOPP’s Finance division is responsible for a number of critical functions at HOOPP, including our controller and accounting functions, administration of investments and other financial transactions, and transforming data into relevant information required for decision making and meeting regulatory requirements, in support of both internal and external stakeholders.
Our Finance Division is looking for a co-op student to join our dynamic and rewarding division at HOOPP.

What you will do:
Depending on the specific role, responsibilities may include:
- Assist the manager in designing business processes on new investment products and strategies
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation in MS OneNote of new business processes & procedures and investment products
- Create process flow diagram and presentation slides using Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint
- Provide support for Investment Operations projects
- Researching information, maintaining spreadsheets and databases
- A key part of the duties is to interact and collaborate with staff members at various levels in Investment Operations
- Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to assist managers in preparing for meetings with other departments, external vendors or HOOPP’s custodian Northern Trust
What you bring:
- Enrolled in a University program with a focus in business, accounting, finance, math, actuarial science or marketing
- Previous work experience (full time or co-op)
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, in Excel and One Note
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize, strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and to manage conflicting priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with senior staff and external counterparties
- Strong analytical, statistical and mathematical skills
- Excellent communication both written and verbal
