Job Summary
The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (“HOOPP”) is a $100 billion Canadian pension plan managed for the nurses and hospital workers of Ontario. The Public Equities team has two major roles at HOOPP. We provide independent,
robust research on Public Equity markets and on specific companies, and we use this research to generate returns in our own portfolios and by collaborating with other investment teams at HOOPP. The team's culture is focused on achieving results and encouraging growth.
The Investment Analyst (Co-op) will use their excellent analytical and research skills to produce inputs used by the team to make investment decisions. In addition, the ideal candidate could use process design insights and coding skills to improve the efficiency of the team's existing valuation process. Strong time management will help the analyst manage competing interests from multiple team members.
What you will do:
- Ensure up-to-date records for companies by incorporating recent financial results, company filings, research insights, and pertinent developments.
- Maintain industry assessments,
such as comparative data sheets and sector-level analyses, encompassing both technology trends and broader market dynamics assessing their potential implications for portfolio positions and contributing to risk management efforts.
- Refine and enhance existing valuation workflows, improving team efficiency across sectors.
- Assist in trading-related operational workflows and contribute to risk reporting, spanning various industry segments.
- Provide essential administrative support to the team as needed.
What you bring:
- Enrolled in a university degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Math, Computer Science, Engineering.
- Programming ability in one or more languages is an asset.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for investing and capital markets.
- Highlight a consistent record of excellence and accomplishments in studies and other relevant areas.
- Exemplify a positive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach to learning and collaborating with the team.
