The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager Financial Reporting and working closely with the Director Financial Reporting and Consolidation, the Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting will be a key member of the Corporate Finance Team and work closely with other finance teams within Parkland. The Financial Analyst will assist with external and internal reporting, financial statement close cycles, routine and non-routine corporate accounting matters,



and ensuring company controls and policies are executed. In addition, the Financial Analyst will take an active role in the accounting and integration of various transactions and contribute to process improvement and other special ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities:

- Financial reporting (including but not limited to):
- Prepares the quarterly and annual financial statements and MD&A; in Workiva, including working papers, and ensure compliance with IFRS;
- Assist with managing the financial reporting process and Workiva;
- Support and maintain process documentation to ensure SOX and C-SOX compliance for areas of responsibility; and
- Prepares ad-hoc reports required, including statistical surveys and other non-GAAP reports.

- Corporate accounting and others (including but not limited to):

- Liaises with the Treasury team for debt and equity accounting,



including deferred financing costs, interest accrual, and prepaid interest;
- Prepares the accounting for decommissioning liabilities and environmental provisions, including working with the Environment Team and other divisions to update cost estimates and other assumptions;
- Prepares the accounting for share-based compensation, including stock options, RSUs, and DSUs;
- Prepares accounting for hedge accounting, embedded derivatives, and non-controlling interest;
- Prepares the annual goodwill impairment test and other impairment indicator analysis for tangible and intangible assets;
- Overseeing the accounting and timely reporting for leases (under IFRS 16) using the Lease Harbor Apex system, and providing accounting guidance on leases to various divisions;
- Actively participate in process and system improvement projects;




- Assists with external and internal auditor requests; and
- Liaises with other departments to support corporate initiatives, projects, and business requirements.

Requirements:

- Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting at a mid to large-cap publicly traded, preferably those in high-growth or acquisitive environments with multi-currency subsidiaries, or a Senior Accountant/Assistant Manager at a public accounting firm;
- CPA designation (or working toward CPA designation) with 2 to 4 years of progressive experience.
- Strong knowledge and experience with public company accounting requirements, IFRS, working with complex accounting issues and implementing C-SOX and SOX controls;
- Strong understanding of financial statement close processes and accounting matters applicable to public companies;
- Experience with acquisition accounting,



business combinations and accounting integrations;
- Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne ERP or another ERP system;
- Experience with Onestream and/or Workiva; and
- Experience in relevant non-financial industries (e.g. retail, manufacturing, marketing, distribution, technology, downstream oil and gas, etc.);
- Excellent accounting analysis and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to proactively identify issues and understand the overall big picture;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-finance stakeholders/decision-makers;
- Excellent Excel skills – must be comfortable working with large volumes of data using advanced Excel functions;
- Willingness to learn, improve existing processes, and get the job done in a fast-paced dynamic environment;




- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all business units and operations;
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage time, work independently, and multi-task; and
- Willingness to work in the evenings and on weekends.
