We are currently seeking a CAN/AFRICA Regional Finance Director to join our Boart Longyear team in Toronto, CAN. The Regional Finance Director will oversee and integrate the commercial, accounting, and FP&A; strategy for the region, ensuring alignment with the organization's broader financial goals. This role is critical in managing the region's profit and loss (P&L;) statement and driving strategic financial initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Finance department, with a dotted line to the Regional Director, this position will provide comprehensive financial leadership across operations, growth initiatives, and commercial decision-making.
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Oversee and manage the region's profit/loss (P&L;) statement, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Prepare capital expenditures (CAPEX) business cases, evaluating Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) for individual projects and divisions.
- Provide insights into financial performance at the division and project level to support decision-making.
- Review commercial proposals for terms, financial impact, and completeness, ensuring alignment with regional strategy and capacity.
- Assist in cash management for the region, supporting optimal liquidity and financial efficiency.
FP&A; and Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of the regional forecast and budget, conducting bi-weekly reviews and monthly roll-ups.
- Develop cash flow statements and analyses for each business unit and division.
- Create a monthly KPI and financial report pack, including balance sheets, cash flow analysis, and P&L; by division and region.
- Drive Operational Excellence through analysis of financial performance; highlighting opportunities to optimize ROIC; tracking performance of improvement initiatives; reporting back to the operations leaders.
Commercial and Operational Support
- Partner with the Regional Director to track and manage the operating agenda, including commercial, operational, and growth cadence reviews.
- Maintain a commercial pipeline to monitor and support upcoming opportunities.
- Provide financial expertise for new country entry proposals (CAN/AFRICA region).
Team and Resource Management
- Manage the regional financial team, providing leadership, mentoring, and performance oversight.
- Oversee contract administrators to ensure accurate and complete billing.
- Manage third-party service providers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and cost-effectiveness.
Audit and Compliance
- Oversee the North America Controller to ensure accurate day-to-day handling of statutory reports and audits.
- Assist the Global Controller in the global audit process, ensuring regional compliance.
- Manage the audit of regional statutory reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
Operational Reporting and Analysis
- Provide detailed comparisons of actual financial results against bids and forecasts.
- Develop job-level cost sheets to evaluate project profitability and adherence to initial assumptions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA is highly desirable.
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on FP&A;, commercial finance, and P&L; management.
- Experience managing CAPEX evaluations, including ROIC assessments.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor financial teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Background in managing regional financial operations, preferably in the drilling services sector.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
- Must have valid Driver's License
