Technical Analyst (Systems Administrator)
(Azure, Active Directory, VMWare, Windows Server, Patching, Storage)
** Extensive hands-on experience with Azure services, including Entra ID, Conditional Access, Single Sign-On, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). **

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Directory Services and Infrastructure : Oversee enterprise directory services and associated server infrastructure, including user accounts, permissions, access controls, and storage allocations. Ensure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory compliance best practices.
- Infrastructure Design and Maintenance : Design,
implement, configure, and maintain core infrastructure services on both Windows and Linux operating systems. This includes environments hosted in Azure and on-premises using VMware.
- System Configuration and Recovery : Perform system configuration tasks and establish robust backup and recovery procedures for critical servers.
- System Upgrades and Patching : Plan and execute system updates, including operating system upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor patches for Windows environments.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization : Monitor system performance, conduct regular testing, and generate detailed performance reports. Propose and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Data Center Operations : Support data center and server room operations, ensuring adherence to established processes and procedures.
- Incident Management and Troubleshooting : Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues. Escalate complex problems as required.
- Documentation and Training : Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation,
including system configurations, operational procedures, and training materials.
- Cross-Team Collaboration : Work closely with other teams to ensure the availability, scalability, and reliability of corporate server environments to meet business needs.
- Policy Implementation : Establish and adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure consistent operations.
- Project Leadership and Capacity Planning : Lead projects involving the design and implementation of new systems, applications, and hardware. Conduct capacity planning as necessary.
- Research and Development : Stay current with industry trends by researching systems, software, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development initiatives.
- Asset Management : Manage system components, maintain accurate inventory,
and document technical specifications.
- Support for Development Teams : Provide infrastructure support to application development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience : A degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field, along with 5+ years of equivalent IT experience.
- Azure Expertise : Extensive hands-on experience with Azure services, including Entra ID, Conditional Access, Single Sign-On, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
- Automation Skills : Proficiency with automation tools such as PowerShell and Ansible.
- Active Directory Management : 5+ years of experience managing Active Directory, including users, groups, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
- Technical Analysis and Troubleshooting : 5+ years in a Technical Analyst role handling server, storage, and backup environments,
with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Server and Patching Experience : In-depth experience with server patching, preferably using SCCM. Expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, Linux Server, VMware, and file services (DFS, NFS, CIFS).
- Backup and Recovery : Proficiency in backup and recovery processes, with experience using Rubrik considered an asset.
- Monitoring and Performance Tuning : Hands-on experience with tools like SCCM and SCOM is advantageous.
- Storage and Networking : Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage technologies and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and FTP/SFTP.
- Enterprise Applications : Familiarity with SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, and Citrix is a plus.
- Cabling Knowledge : Experience with copper and fiber cabling in data center environments is beneficial.
- Industry Experience :
Experience in the financial services sector is an asset.
- Certifications : Microsoft Azure Cloud certification and VMware certification are desirable.
- Travel Requirements : Occasional travel to data centers within the Greater Toronto Area.
