The Position
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team in a Maintenance role to perform upkeep tasks such as general maintenance, repairs, carpentry, and small renovations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for applying basics fixes to building systems and equipment and ensuring that facilities are tidy and functional. Applicants must possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.
Being dependable and organized are two pillars of success for this position. The ideal candidate will have experience in this field and bring solid technical knowledge to the role. The ability to work effectively with a team and being creative in problem solving is required. The Maintenance Worker will report and provide support to the Manager of Facilities.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform building repairs including:
- Drywall, paint, flooring, carpentry, and ceiling tiles
- Assist with moving and storage of supplies and equipment
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems
- Completion of all maintenance services requests as assigned
- Performs daily site inspections of the facility and mechanical equipment to ensure proper operations
- Report to the Manager of Facilities, noting any problems found during site inspections
- Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs
- Perform emergency repairs after regular work hours, on occasion
- Follow health and safety policies and safe practices
- Other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- A Certificate in Carpentry is required. Equivalents will be considered.
- 1-2 years related work experience in a commercial property is an asset.
- Skills
- Strong maintenance skills including, but not limited to:
- Carpentry, general repairs and maintenance, painting, and plumbing
- Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures
- Valid driver’s license
- A clear Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
What You Can Expect:
This is a full-time, permanent position. The typical shift length will be eight hours, with some weekend shifts required. Due to the nature of the work, there may be times when additional hours, as well as variable and irregular hours are required.
Any schedule changes will be discussed in advance, and the successful candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends, when required.
