Payworks develops proprietary, integrated SaaS-based products in the payroll, human resources and time and attendance space. The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for supporting the SQL Server database systems of the organization to ensure their availability, performance, and security. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for users. The DBA will work under the guidance of a Senior Database Administrator, contributing to the effective and efficient operation of database systems.

SUPPORT AND COLLABORATE – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Database maintenance – You will perform routine maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, query execution and performance tuning. Also support the development and deployment of database changes and new applications and ensure databases comply with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Work with a collaborative team – We believe that when we work together we become greater than the sum of our parts. You will work closely with other Database Administrators, Software Developers, and other stakeholders to support database-related initiatives.
Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting database errors and performance issues. You will also support Infrastructure in routine maintenance and upgrading of database systems.
- Documentation and reporting – You will maintain detailed documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and operations and generate reports on database performance, usage, and other metrics as required.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1-5 years’ of experience in a database administrator, support and maintenance position.
- Basic level of understanding with database management systems and familiarity with backup and recovery tools and techniques.
- Fundamental knowledge of SQL for database querying and basic management tasks.
- Familiarity with backup and recovery tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of scripting languages for simple automation tasks is an asset.
- Exposure to database migration and upgrade projects.
- Is an effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills and has the ability to interact with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and assist in cross-functional projects.
