Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor performs general maintenance on the grounds.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cuts grass with riding lawn tractor, waters plants, pulls weeds, and fertilizes.
- Clean up of litter, sweeping of entrances and walkways
- Assists staff with daily duties such as patching, touch-ups, painting, moving furniture and cleaning vents, etc.
- Assists with set up and tear down for outdoor events.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- Secondary school education or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in English, both orally and in writing
- Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public, residents, families, staff and suppliers in a courteous and tactful manner
- Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual
Physical Demands:
- This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling and lifting (varying amounts)
- Must be able to bend, stretch and twist freely
- Must be able to operate riding lawnmower, gas trimmer and air compressor
Assets:
- Has a keen interest in working with the elderly
- Previous experience in taking direction from others
- Previous grounds work, painting, and working with hand tools.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
- Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies.
- Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
