The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking four (4) full-time contract (until August 31, 2024), Counsellor/Therapist 2's for the Problem Gambling and Technology Use Treatment Service. This position is part of a provincial initiative to address problem gambling and technology misuse among children & youth. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate on an evidence-based curriculum and program development. Practicing within a patient- and family-centered care, collaborative approach, the role will include provision of assessment and treatment for children, youth and emerging adults, and their parents and caregivers affected by problem gambling, gaming and technology use. The position involves:



individual assessments, treatment planning, limited case management, and provision of treatment (both virtual and in-person) group facilitation and education concerning social media and problem technology use.

The incumbent will be able to work with clients from diverse populations, and demonstrate a harm reduction, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach to care. The incumbent will ensure that care is coordinated where multiple services are involved. The incumbent will contribute to program development and support continuous quality improvement. Candidates capable of providing supervision of students (or working toward those qualifications) within their respective discipline are an asset, and may also contribute to teaching of other health professionals. The incumbent will also participate in the research activities of the program. Workload data entry is a job requirement. The incumbent will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. Other related duties as assigned.



Some evening hours are required. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.

The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy combined with 3 years of post-graduate, direct clinical experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment. At least one full year’s experience providing treatment for problem gambling and/or behavioral addictions is preferred. The candidate must be able to demonstrate competence to practice CBT-informed treatment. As a registered member in good standing with a regulated health care discipline, you must show proof of registration with the respective College (e.g. College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW),



College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO). For Registered Psychotherapist with RP(Q) or RP Without Independent Practice status, Social Worker/Social Service Worker, Occupational Therapist and Psychology incumbents who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity.

Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively (verbal and written) are required. Demonstrated ability, knowledge and skills in addictions, concurrent disorders, group work, clinical assessment and treatment, harm reduction and brief treatment are required.



The candidate will also have experience and competence in the provision of virtual care for both individual and group treatment. Knowledge exchange skills and knowledge of community resources are also required. In addition, candidates will possess fundamental knowledge and application of the recovery model and other current best practices. The ability to provide culturally competent service to clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is essential. Candidates will also possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to work independently and within a team, have the ability to communicate effectively, have strong writing and presentation skills, be able to meet deadlines, and have excellent computer skills and knowledge of technology to enhance communication and learning. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
