GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Business Development Specialist at Corrosion Service is responsible for managing customer relationships, acquiring new clients, and increasing material sales within an assigned portfolio.
This role involves providing exceptional customer service through face-to-face meetings, trade shows, and targeted campaigns while identifying sales opportunities and delivering tailored solutions. The specialist must develop in-depth product knowledge, execute sales strategies, and maintain detailed performance reporting. Strong communication, CRM proficiency, and the ability to travel within Canada and internationally are essential for success. The Business Development Specialist is responsible for achieving profit and revenue goals for material product categories within a defined portfolio. The Business Development Specialist is tasked with managing external customers and acquiring new customers for Corrosion Service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Sales and Marketing Department in driving revenue through outbound targeted product campaigns,
new account acquisition, quote follow-ups, and management of existing accounts. Identify and act on opportunities to develop new sales prospects, increasing revenue and driving sales growth from existing accounts.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the product lines and generate incremental sales volume through engagement with both internal and external customers.
- The Business Development Specialist projects a positive and professional image at all times, assisting customers promptly and conducting business in a friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable manner.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure timely order delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of products and services, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of market conditions within the industry,
including key players and competitors.
- Develop and manage a list of current and potential customers for the assigned territory and product portfolio.
- Collaborate with Sales Management and Operations Managers to develop and execute effective sales strategies for specific clients and customers.
- Prospect and perform cold calls to schedule meetings with potential and existing customers to generate new business opportunities and drive revenue growth.
- Advise current and prospective customers on forthcoming product developments while fostering long-term, productive relationships.
- Understand customer requirements and provide tailored solutions based on the assigned product portfolio.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with both existing and potential customers.
- Respond promptly to incoming product inquiries, generate quotes,
and process orders and purchase orders in a timely manner, adhering to current CSCL service levels.
- Act as a product expert for the assigned product portfolio.
- Represent and promote CSCL’s full line of products and services.
- Represent CSCL at trade exhibitions, events, and demonstrations.
- Negotiate price, delivery, and specification details with customers.
- Prepare detailed proposal documents when required.
- Assist with RFP responses as identified by Sales Management.
- Record order details and coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure fulfillment.
- Liaise with CSCL’s supply chain to monitor the progress of existing orders.
- Review and report on product sales performance to Sales Management.
- Receive customer feedback and escalate concerns to Sales Management and appropriate departments as needed.
- Arrange and deliver presentations to existing and prospective customers, both in-person and via Microsoft Teams, showcasing CSCL capabilities and material sales.
- Attend team meetings and share best practices with colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years of outside sales experience.
- Post Secondary Education (College or University) in a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Experience using CRM software.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Travel required within Canada and potentially Internationally
