The Faculty of Nursing, University of Regina, invites applications from qualified individuals for one full-time, tenure-track instructor at the rank of Instructor II or III (depending on qualifications) within the Faculty of Nursing. Faculty are based at the Saskatoon Campus; however some travel is required to support student learning, community engagement, and institutional collaboration. This is a teaching-focused position. The Faculty of Nursing seeks candidates with experience in nursing education and broad clinical experience that will be drawn upon to make their teaching relevant and engaging. The incumbents will directly support learners and work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders in the province’s Saskatoon and rural and remote areas.
The start date is negotiable.
Position Requirements
The successful candidates must have excellent communication skills,
comprehensive knowledge of nursing practice, and a demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm for teaching, including student advising. Successful candidates will be expected to use a variety of teaching modalities, including offering courses in practice education settings, labs, and seminars.
Applicants will have a minimum of two years of recent and relevant practice experience in their area of specialization.
Minimum Requirements:
Reading:
- Read and understand written documents (charts, orders, flow sheets, graphics)
- Read digital displays
Math:
- Comprehend and interpret graphic trends
- Calibrate equipment
- Convert to and from the metric system (dosage calculations)
- Tell time
- Count rates (drip rates, pulse)
- Document numbers in records using a computerized database
Emotional Stability:
- Establish professional relationships
- Provide emotional support (students, patients and families)
- Adapt to changing environments/stress
Analytical Thinking:
- Transfer knowledge from one situation to another
- Analyze and interpret abstract and concrete data
- Evaluate outcomes
Critical Thinking:
- Ask questions
- Gather relevant information
- Consider alternative systems of thought
Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
- Establish rapport with students, families, patients, and healthcare team
- Respect/value cultural differences
- Negotiate interpersonal conflict
Qualifications:
Hiring preference will be given to candidates who have completed a PhD. A minimum of one graduate degree in Nursing is required and the ability to practice as a nurse practitioner will be considered an asset. The ability to speak French, Cree,
Dene or Saulteaux would be considered an asset.
Applicants must be registered or eligible for unencumbered registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan and have certification in CPR, TLR, and be mask fit tested.

- See information up to 24 inches away (monitors, computer screens, skin conditions)
Tactile and Smell:
- Detect temperature (temperature of skin, IV solutions, etc.)

- Tolerate strong soaps
- Tolerate strong odors
