You will be instrumental in guiding a multi-disciplinary team of Occupational Health professionals to ensure the delivery of programs and services that prioritize employee health and wellness, productivity, and resilience.

About the Occupational Health Team:





The Occupational Health Team at Sinai Health is integral to fostering a safe and healthy workforce. Consisting of 15 experienced professionals, including Abilities Coordinators and Health Surveillance Nurses, we facilitate disability management, return-to-work strategies, workplace accommodation planning, and attendance support programs. Our approach is centered on early intervention and cooperative engagement among employees, managers, health care practitioners, and union partners to drive effective case resolutions while preserving confidentiality and respect.

We also provide a range of essential clinical services, including pre-employment health assessments, immunizations, first aid, and medical surveillance related to occupational exposures. Our team contributes significantly to employee well-being and organizational resilience. Each year, we support the onboarding of over 1,000 new employees,



reinforcing Sinai Health's commitment to growth, safety, and a healthy work environment. Our approach prioritizes creating a workplace culture that is equitable, compassionate, and accountable.

In this role you will:

1. Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction for the Occupational Health team.
2. Conduct training, education, and awareness on issues relating to occupational health across the System.
3. Monitor corporate absenteeism program and develop strategies for improved outcomes.
4. Develop, implement, and maintain effective Occupational Health policies, processes, programs, and metrics.
5. Support the Sinai Health leadership group with occupational health matters.
6. Research, seek input, design, and implement System-wide occupational health strategies.
7. Act as the Sinai Health contact and liaison on occupational health matters.
8.



Lead Sinai Health's occupational health initiatives.
9. Plan and manage return to work and accommodation meetings.
10. Manage employee outbreak surveillance and response.
11. Organize Sinai Health's annual staff flu and COVID-19 immunization campaigns.
12. Develop and administer relevant budgets.
13. Establish project plans, define deliverables, manage progress, and report on results.
14. Oversee and ensure accurate and timely follow-up on occupational health surveys, audits, and reporting requirements.
15. Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

1. Successful completion of a related bachelor’s degree (e.g. Health Sciences, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, etc.) from a recognized educational institution.
2.



A minimum of 8 years’ progressive experience in occupational health and disability management.
3. Recent significant experience in human resources, occupational health, and/or disability management.
4. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

1. Successful completion of a related master’s degree.
2. Direct experience in a hospital environment a definite asset.

Skills and Knowledge:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Ontario Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
2. Extensive knowledge of best practices, new technologies, and trends in outbreak surveillance.
3. Working knowledge of occupational health, disability management, and return to work theory and practices.
4. Sound knowledge and application of financial and operational management.
5.



Ability to delegate effectively and collaborate.
6. Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain a quality and safety culture.
7. Highly computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office.
8. Demonstrated operational experience influencing clinical staff.
9. Proven demonstration of workplace excellence.

Note: This role provides cross-campus support for Mount Sinai and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital's. Your primary location will be at Mount Sinai, however it is generally necessary to be working at Hennick Bridgepoint at least one day per week, depending on priorities.
