Description

The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Program Manager, Health System Impact Training Platform. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, on a day-to-day basis, the person in this position will work directly with the HSITP leadership team, both internal and external to the University, and the national consortium supporting the Platform. The Program Manager position encompasses organizational,



project management/coordination and communication functions related to the HSITP primarily as well as other related health services and policy research projects.

The purpose of the position is to support the principal investigator and research team in meeting the deliverables and timelines of the research program.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Leadership:

- Coordinates priorities of the research project to meet deadlines
- Will be required to liaise with senior researchers and leaders on research related issues
- Instructs others in the use of project management tools
- Ability to manage financial and physical resources within an operating environment, as well as in-scope supervision

Judgment and Decision Making:

- Makes decisions that require choosing between multiple options or may develop new options to resolve moderately complex problems
- Makes decisions in ambiguous situations within established process, procedures and guidelines pertaining to their own research project team
- Excellent analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills
- Proactively anticipates problems and develops preventative solutions
- Responsible for developing and managing project budget

Coordination:





- Prepare project work plans, and coordinate and administer research projects per established study protocols and operating procedures
- Coordinate project team meetings, including documenting and following up on action items
- Collaborate with the investigative team to ensure the timely implementation and completion of research activities
- Coordinate knowledge translation plans and activities for research studies and the research team
- Manage time effectively and ensure immediate reports to the manager are kept informed of activities and progress

Communication and Scientific Contribution:

- Document meetings by preparing minutes that include action items and outcomes, ensuring appropriate distribution and follow-up
- Effective verbal and written communication skills




- Facilitate interdepartmental and internal communications to ensure team members understand project objectives, specifications, deadlines and deliverables
- Development of internal and external progress reports
- Prepares project-related communication and manages the project communication between various levels of stakeholders and the risks associated with sharing and/or releasing sensitive information
- Develops proposals, presentations and strategic communications, and coordinates supporting activities as required to advance the development of priority projects and partnerships

Qualifications / Requirements:

- Master's Degree in a field relevant to health (e.g., public health, health research methodology, health services research, social sciences)
- 2-5 years of related research experience
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered




- Demonstrated project management experience successfully running multiple projects concurrently, and working with large and diverse teams
- Practical experience in professional education and training, developing and programming curricula, teaching diverse student audiences, and evaluating learning objectives will be an asset
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary network will be appreciated
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with knowledge translation activities
- Skills in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
- Ability to plan and direct research and administrative activities within a team environment
- Ability to provide support to other members of the team and related units or teams
- Ability to solve complex problems
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
