Variperm is looking to increase our capacity as experts in downhole flow control design and deployment. We are considered leaders in our key markets including SAGD and CSS thermal completions. We don’t develop software, we do engineering to support optimum completion design. The job will involve developing and utilizing tools to analyze client wells and design for future deployment. Strong analytical skills (read: Excel), communication, problem solving, and data processing are critical. Think of it as production engineering focused on Inflow Control Design, for a dozen different assets and recovery methods.
The pitch:
Our clients have the luxury of asking the hardest questions and seeing how much effort we will put in to derive the best answers. We have the luxury of digging in to learn and share our understanding based on significant qualification and testing to back it up. We also get to learn how thermal operations work and can be improved, by seeing how different they are all approached. Interested in solvent flooding? 2km long SAGD? Join us and we will chase it. Also conventional, waterflood, international projects in play.
Duties:
- Develop and define methods for completion FCD deployment leveraging existing methods
- Professional technical reporting in MS Word and PowerPoint, with thorough and detailed backup and distilled, client ready summaries
- Support tracking of wells deployed and client data reviews of well performance
- Monthly accountability updates on long term tasks and progress
- Proactive engagement with product development and sales team to develop awareness of company offerings and room for improvement
- Maintenance of strict confidentiality of confidential client information and FET intellectual property (our magic sauce)
- The role will report directly to the Flow Control Lead

Qualifications/Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in a technical role
- Data analysis and/or wells for bonus points
- Engineering for bonus points
- 5+ years of experience in thermal wells
- Overtime as required to cover staff and support urgent client needs
- Professional dress code
- Adherence to all safety expectations of the company
- Bachelor of Science required
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday gig until you get the call. Flexibility balanced with autonomy; this is an outcome role.
