Description of Organization Community Living Mississauga is a non-profit organization, which provides support to people who have an intellectual disability so that their quality of life in the community is meaningfully improved. Location Proximity Mississauga, ON Description of Position The Futures Program provides young adults who have an intellectual disability, ages 16-21, with a summer program option that combines both work experience and recreational activities. The program will provide young adults with opportunities to gain some valuable work experience through volunteering and to participate in fun-filled summer activities in their community.
Young adults will participate in employment readiness workshops then spend the remainder of the day either volunteering to gain practical work experience or enhancing social skills by participating in recreational activities in the community, using public transportation to get to and from the activities.
$20.00 per hour, up to 42 hours per week, up to 9 weeks

Apply now: send your resume to Mary Dillon at [email protected] Description of Duties Summer Staff in the Futures Program provide direct support to young adults in community activities and support in their volunteer placements as they learn their job responsibilities and routine. The Summer Staff will also facilitate the employment readiness workshops. In addition, Summer Staff also have record-keeping and program-planning responsibilities, must attend weekly staff meetings and promote the inclusion of young adults into all community activities. Staff must be comfortable providing personal care support. Staff must also be comfortable participating in all activities with the young adults including swimming,
and be physically fit to perform the essential duties of the job including performing lifts and transfers as necessary. Qualifications Developmental Services Worker Diploma or enrolled and actively pursuing this diploma
Have experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability Equivalency Social Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, B.A. in Social Sciences or B.A. in unrelated or enrolled in and actively pursuing the above
Have experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability
Asset
Fluent in French
Aptitude to learn quickly and to work independently
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
