Position Summary
We are looking for a supportive, curious, and organized team player who wants to grow their human resources skills while supporting CHF’s purpose to guide the fight against homelessness. You will be accountable for supporting the people and culture life cycle and strategic initiatives ensuring to keep all things organized for the HR department. In addition, you will have many opportunities to coordinate and collaborate with other CHF departments while supporting CHF’s purpose and ambition. This position reports to the Director,
Human Resources.
Areas of Accountability
Working with the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for the following:
- Support the execution of HR strategic and operational initiatives
- Partner with hiring managers for vacant positions including collection of job requirements, posting position, pre-screening candidates, reference checks, police background checks, and employment documentation preparation and delivery
- Facilitate the onboarding processes to ensure all necessary documentation is in place, including maintaining up to date HR files and leveraging the HRIS system (BambooHR).
- Facilitate orientation for all new employees, on culture, purpose, ambition, policies and procedures, and Health & Safety
- Update policies and procedures in collaboration with the Director of HR
- Assist with the administration of total rewards programs including benefits, recognition and service milestones
- Support the performance and growth quarterly and annual cycle
- Assist with the collection and analysis of external salary survey data and support CHF’s annual compensation review process
- Assist with disability files and WCB claims paperwork
- Create and maintain monthly reports on HR Metrics
- Develop various communications in collaboration with the Director HR
- Maintaining employee files
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of CHF events
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Completion of a post-secondary certificate or degree in related field
- Minimum 3 years of relevant HR experience
- CPHR designation in progress
- Experience with the administration of benefits
- Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
- Familiar with relevant legislation related to Human Resources
- Ability to analyze information, recommend solutions, and make good decisions
- Self-directed with the ability to organize, plan and prioritize
- Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to change; calm under pressure
- Strong communications skills, written and verbal
- Creative and innovative
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and Human resource information Systems
