Come join our dynamic Emergency Preparedness and Response Team in the Western Canada region to grow your career to the next level! as a Senior Specialist (Emergency Management), you will play a meaningful role within our Environmental Group.
This position gives candidates the unique experience of working in a matrix business, performing work with skilled professionals across North America in a collaborative environment, with opportunities for specialization and advancement. The role will be based out of either our Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver offices.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Lead the delivery of Emergency Management (EM) services such as training and exercises for environmental response (oil/chemical), Incident Command System (ICS) management, regulatory/ response planning, hazard and risk assessments.
- Lead gap assessments and program reviews of client emergency management programs
- Be available for afterhours response to attend emergencies to lead Incident Management Team (IMT) functions and to support local field staff as they perform the following functions (ICS positions, inspection, maintenance, monitoring, construction oversight, air monitoring, operating UAVs, and sampling efforts at the project site)
- Lead the preparation and delivery of technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, and work plans
- Lead business development with existing as well as new clients, including assisting with proposal pursuits
- Lead project management activities including, cost and budget tracking, scheduling, client communication and liaising, and preparation and implementation of scopes of work
- Lead training and mentoring of junior staff
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in science/engineering (such as chemical, mechanical, environmental) or emergency management (with an industry focus)
- Previous employment experience in a consulting/engineering/industrial Emergency Management role
- 7 to 10+ years' experience required
- Previous experience leading or supporting exercise delivery using the U.S. Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program
- Previous employment experience in similar regulatory/ response planning capacity with experience in some, or all, of the following areas will be considered an asset:
- Environmental Emergency (E2) Plans (ECCC)
- Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAP)(TC)
- Spill Preventions and Contingency Plans (BCMOE)
- Process Safety Management Plans (OSHA, CSA, CCPS)
- Emergency Response Plans
- Process safety management (PSM)
- Process hazard analyses (PHA)
- Experience in industrial settings, dangerous goods, regulatory compliance, process flow, and/or process safety
- Experience in leading project management activities including, cost and budget tracking, scheduling, client communication and liaising, and preparation and implementation of scopes of work
- Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite programs
- Proven problem-solving abilities and proficiency
- Ability to present technical information, both written and orally, in a concise and professional manner to audiences of varying technical abilities and backgrounds
- Ability to qualify for and attain a TN Visa to work in the United States
- Positive attitude with very strong interpersonal skills
- Readiness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Ability to respond to call outs during non-routine working hours will be required to support Emergency Response Activities, when requested
- High degree of personal initiative, great teammate, and capable of working on a wide variety of tasks
- Must have a valid drivers license and passport.
