The Opportunity:
WSP
is currently seeking a motivated
Civil Design Engineer
to join our
Calgary Land Development & Municipal Engineering
(LDME) team.
Reporting to the Calgary LDME Manager, this position will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to have meaningful involvement in designing a wide variety of projects in terms of type and scale.
Examples of projects may include site servicing projects for public, private and First Nation clients, residential/commercial/industrial subdivisions, improvements and enhancements to municipal water, wastewater, drainage, roadway infrastructure, industrial sites, etc.
As a key member of the design team, you will deal directly with the WSP project manager,
other technical engineers within the team, junior staff, and CAD technicians.

What you can expect to do here: Work with team members to design exciting land development and municipal infrastructure projects including: site developments, municipal upgrades, water resources, watermain and sewage collection & rehabilitation, road design, etc.
Prepare analyses, designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports
Provide technical advisory services for engineering projects
Provide mentorship to new and existing junior staff
Supporting field staff throughout contract administration and field reviews for projects under construction
Actively participate in the design and provide direction to the team throughout the design process
Liaise with various municipal/utility/approval agencies
Assist in the prepare RFP's, Bid and Proposal documents; and
Other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to WSP:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in municipal infrastructure or land development experience for Public and Private Sector projects
An undergraduate degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited institution
Professional Engineer (P.
Eng.), Professional Licensee (P.L.
Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.
Tech) designation in Alberta
Knowledge and application of local standards and guidelines
Knowledge and application of Environmental standards and guidelines
Robust design experience on municipal and/or private sector projects
Experience with sewer,
watermain, and road design
Familiarity with local planning/approval processes
Experience working with various Alberta municipalities and First Nations is an asset
