As our Technical Support Scientist you will be responsible for supporting the water treatment group[, and secondly support the completion and wholesale research chemists.
The main role of the Technical Support Scientist is to test, develop, and optimize the portfolio for the water treatment product line.
This includes but is not limited to chemical additives for industrial water treatment, oil and gas, agricultural, mobile dewatering, with a strong focus on polymers, coagulants, and environmentally friendly chemistry alternatives.
This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta
The Technical Support Scientist will join a collaborative and dynamic team within the Specialty Chemicals business segment, working alongside industry-leading professionals in water treatment, completions,
and wholesale research.
The work environment is primarily lab-based, providing hands-on opportunities to contribute to innovative projects in a setting that values teamwork, technical excellence, and professional growth.
This is a fixed term contract position with a duration of 12-18 months.
Conduct research and perform laboratory experiments to evaluate and optimize water treatment processes for agriculture, industrial and slop oil dewatering applications.
Analyze water samples to identify contaminants, determine treatment requirements, and develop appropriate treatment strategies.
Design and conduct pilot-scale studies to evaluate the performance of different treatment approaches, including the selection and testing of polymers, coagulants, and emulsions.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement customized water treatment solutions for clients, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Provide technical support and expertise to customers, including troubleshooting treatment issues, conducting on-site visits, and delivering training sessions.
Stay current with industry trends, research advancements, and emerging technologies related to water treatment, polymers, coagulants, and emulsions.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to internal stakeholders and clients.
Perform additional tasks as assigned on an ad hoc basis, including supporting other groups within the lab (E.g.
Completions and Wholesale) during periods of reduced waster group activity.
Appropriate training will be provided as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or similar.
Candidates without a degree, but with a technical diploma and equivalent industry experience, will be considered.5+ years of experience in industrial water treatment, agricultural, and mobile dewatering, with a strong focus on polymers and coagulants is preferred.
Candidates without direct experience but with significant exposure to a laboratory environment including testing, product development, and commercialization will be considered.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in water treatment and environmental protection.
Experience in conducting pilot-scale studies and translating results into scalable treatment solutions.
Strong communication skills, oral and written; ability to present to technical clientele, technical field personnel,
and sales personnel.
Able to work both independently and as part of a larger group.
Highly motivated, organized with excellent time management skills and has a professional manner.
