Terrane Geoscience Inc., is a geoscience and engineering consulting firm with offices in Fredericton, NB, Halifax, NS, and Kelowna, BC. Terrane’s personnel are experts in structural geology, rock mechanics engineering, geo-structural engineering and geospatial data collection and analysis.
We are seeking a senior to principal level rock mechanics engineer , engineering geologist, or geotechnical engineer to be part of our team of experts working on rock engineering projects throughout Canada and internationally. The successful candidate will work with Terrane’s principals to lead projects and foster client relationships in the mining and infrastructure sectors while mentoring a team of junior and intermediate engineers and geologists.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will display strong technical skills and the ability to manage large complex projects.

Location
· The location of this position is flexible within Canada with preference for Fredericton, Halifax or Kelowna.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Perform advanced analyses of rock mass behavior, stability assessments, and support design
- Develop and implement ground control strategies for open pit and underground mining operations
- Conduct field investigations, data collection, and interpretation of geotechnical and geological information
- Oversee and review the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and documentation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and geoscientists
- Assist in advancing Terrane’s rock mechanics and engineering capabilities
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in geological, geotechnical, civil, or mining engineering
- An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D) is considered an asset
- 15 years of industry experience with a focus on rock engineering projects including open pit and underground mines, highway rock slopes, shafts, and tunnels
- Consulting engineering business development experience
- Experience in field geotechnical mapping, logging, and rock mass classification
- Numerical modelling experience (LEM, FEM)
- Understanding of geomechanical laboratory testing and sampling
· Professional and responsive communicator with client management experience
- A positive attitude, a team player,
and ability to meet deadlines as required
- Registration or immediate eligibility for Canadian P.Eng. status (or limited P.Eng for an Engineering Geologist)
- Valid Canadian driver’s license
- Canadian work permit or citizenship
- Ability to travel up to a maximum of one week per month within Canada and internationally
