POSITION SUMMARY
Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice,
administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
The Parliamentary Education Office is seeking an organized, detail oriented, and resourceful individual for the regular full-time position of Event Coordinator.
Reporting to the Manager, Parliamentary Education Office, the Event Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the use of the Legislative Precinct and supports public-facing and organization-wide events. The Event Coordinator provides cultural liaison and protocol services to user groups including promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment on the Legislative Precinct. The Event Coordinator reviews precinct use applications, assesses policy compliance and implications of appropriate use, and is a primary point of contact for precinct use for internal and external clients, user groups and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be/have:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, event and hospitality management, or a related program,
plus at least one year of event coordination experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Progressive experience providing administrative support in an office environment.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience using Checkfront
- Experience using MS Office and Adobe suites including InDesign.
- Professional designation in Event Coordination (CMP, CanSPEP or similar).
- Experience working in high volume processing environments
- An established track record of event and/or hospitality management for events and experience coordinating logistics for large events such as conferences.
