Department missionContribute to citizens' quality of life by enforcing Pointe-Claire by-laws and protecting Pointe-Claire territory with integrity and vigilance. Responsibilities and goals associated with the positionReporting to the Assistant Director, Inspection - Public Security, the Senior Inspector is in charge of supervising activities falling under her or his responsibility. The jobholder manages teams of inspectors and other employees, reporting to her or him, who interact with citizens in enforcing by-laws and ordinances under the Inspection - Public Security service jurisdiction. The jobholder co-ordinates and supervises the team's work organization,
scheduling and procedures in order to ensure preventive patrolling on City territory and responses to service calls. She or he also makes sure that citizens receive uninterrupted services regarding the enforcement of municipal by-laws under the Inspection - Public Security service jurisdiction. The jobholder's main responsibilities are as follows:Respond to and handle complaints and petitions from the public; provide the public with information on the terms of by-laws and ordinances instituted by the City and supply requested information.Take appropriate action to enforce the various municipal by-laws under the Inspection - Public Security service jurisdiction, including those pertaining to parking lots, graffiti, animal control on City territory, etc.Record data and draft reports required by senior management related to actions, events, and various daily activities.Develop weekly work schedules for employees under her or his jurisdiction at the Inspection - Public Security service.Monitor municipal buildings and respond to alarms.Participate in staff management (motivation, checking activity reports),
monitor the conduct of employees under her or his supervision, and, if applicable, refer matters to her or his supervisor.Assist her or his supervisor in managing vehicles required for operational purposes.Assist her or his supervisor in implementing public awareness programs with regard to school zones, speed limits, etc.Ensure that mandatory health and safety measures are enforced by her or his team.Assist in the testifying process and, as required, testify in court during legal proceedings, challenges to statements of offence, and lawsuits.Develop regular operations and emergency measures and participate in planning them.Drive an emergency vehicle and ensure its normal maintenance, and advise her or his supervisor of any defects detected.Administer first aid as required.Give required training to new Inspection - Public Security inspectors.Perform any other related tasks.
