Salary: $54,996.00/yr - $68,745.00/yr

What qualifications are we looking for?





At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;

· Required Arena Level 1 and 2 Certifications

· Pool Level 1 and 2 Certifications will be an asset for cross training in pool operations

· ABSA 5th Class Power Engineering Certification will be an asset for cross training in building operations

· Graduate from a recognized college or university facility operations program (RFOM) preferred

· Proven leadership and teambuilding skills

· Two to four years' experience working in a Recreational Facilities

· Safety in the Workplace certificate and/or experience

· CMMS preventative maintenance experience for setting-up equipment's, tasks, and schedules

· Proficiencies in Microsoft Word and Excel

· Must have a valid drivers' license





· Physically fit and able to lift and move objects 50lbs or greater

· WHIMIS Certification

· Police Security Check and Vulnerable Sector search mandatory

· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Duties and Responsibilities includes:
· Operates the Ice Resurfacing Machine in a safe manner as per SOP's while completing scheduled floods.





· Monitor the operations and coordinate the preventative maintenance with the service provider of ammonia refrigeration plant in Shane Homes and Brookfield Residential YMCA's.

· Monitor the chemical water treatments of the cooling tower

· Ensures quality ice resurfacing to accommodate various on ice activities by installing, removing, marking and maintaining the ice surface

· Checks ice-making equipment, machinery and supplies

· Perform shift work during days, nights, and weekends as required

· Ability to cover shift work in emergency situations

· Mentorship, schedule and supervise all arena staff

· Monitors arenas to ensure rental clients adhere to the scheduled ice times and are acting appropriately within the arena dressing rooms

· Improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with rentals and programs staff





· Provides quality customer service to a wide variety of arena users by providing assistance with concerns and questions

· Assists with checking the condition of the boards, ice thickness, glass, netting and areas in the arena during weekly ice maintenance times and make repairs as necessary

· Assists with completion of regular ice maintenance checks prior to each operation of the ice resurfacer and related equipment

· Participates in arena shutdowns, safety training requirements and other facility shutdowns

· Inventories and checks ice-making equipment, ice quality, machinery, supplies and general upkeep of the arena facilities

· Monitor arena performance in observance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards

· Develops preventative measures to ensure optimal operations of the arena

· Works toward improving operations, decrease arena closure time,



streamline work processes and work cooperatively with the Facility Rentals and Booking Coordinator and Programs staff to provide quality customer service

· Monitors ice quality and the general upkeep of the arena facilities to ensure they are maintained to a high-quality standard

· Assist in the overall needs of the facility operations throughout the Facility, both inside the building and outside, including building checks and monitoring mechanical equipment.

· Part of the on-call rotation for the Asset Managers

· All YMCA Facility Asset staff will be cross trained to be able to work at all YMCA Calgary locations as needed
