Job Summary
The HSJCC Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Specialist will support the work of the Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee (HSJCC) Network to improve communications, engagement and representation of diverse voices and members within the Network. The Specialist will support the strategic direction, programs and policy initiatives of the HSJCC Network through extensive engagement, networking, communications, knowledge exchange and event management skills.
They will work directly with the Provincial HSJCC, Local and Regional HSJCCs and other agencies within the human services and justice sectors by strategically leveraging the HSJCC Network’s communications tools, including its website, newsletter, and social media channels.
Core Responsibilities
- Working with the Director to develop and implement an enhanced comprehensive strategy to improve stakeholder engagement at a local, regional and provincial level.
- Coordinating multi-sectoral and diverse groups to lead the work on behalf of the HSJCC Secretariat for provincial advisory committees.
- Collaborating with key partners including but not limited to Local and Regional HSJCCs, member organizations and those with lived experience.
- Creating and executing strategies to share relevant information and ideas and promote the HSJCC Network.
- Leading knowledge exchange activities including educational webinars, forums, and stakeholder meetings for the Provincial HSJCC.
- Working alongside the communications team to ensure consistent branding and messaging for the Provincial HSJCC and HSJCC Network.
- Support the communications team in translating the complex work of the HSJCC Network into easily digested analysis and content for internal and external audiences.
- Contributing innovative ideas and content for various collateral materials (web, print, multimedia and other promotional materials)
- Working with the HSJCC Secretariat Team to develop workplan activities and meet key deliverables.

Skills & Experience
- University degree in a relevant field (i.e., health, human services, criminal justice)
- Three to five years of experience with stakeholder engagement and the development of knowledge exchange activities.
- Strong facilitation skills and experience leading diverse stakeholder groups required.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to execute strategies in a clear, digestible manner utilizing a wide range of formats.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and networks.
- Experience managing projects and managing multiple tasks within established timelines in a team environment required.
- Familiarity with key concepts of mental health promotion, health equity and social determinants of health required.
- Experience working in multi-sectoral partnerships and liaising with non-governmental organizations and government agencies required.
- Familiarity with Zoom Webinar and email marketing campaign services (i.e., MailChimp)
required. Familiarity with WordPress an asset.
- Experience in graphic design, web design and social media an asset.
- Experience working with peer-led groups and those with lived experience groups an asset.
- Working knowledge of the criminal justice sector and the intersections between the human services and justice systems an asset.

Salary
Hiring Rate: This position pays between $73,520.97 and $75,726.60 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week.
The salary grid for this role ranges between $73,520.97 at Step 1 and $82,748.49 at Step 5.
The initial salary offered for this position is anticipated to fall between Step 1 and Step 2 of the salary grid as posted above as the hiring rate.
The successful candidate will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes pension through HOOPP, life, health, and dental insurance, exclusive paid time-off and opportunities for professional development.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, regular (permanent) position working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). This position is based in Toronto, Ontario and may require regular travel. We are currently operating within a hybrid model, with colleagues working from the office 3 days/week and from home 2 days/week.
This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone/virtual interaction, and working at the computer. This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling.
Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.
This position is within the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to maintain and submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
