CHEKOA PROGRAM RECRUITMENT

The Yellowknives Dene First Nation is committed to providing efficient programs and services for the people of Wıı̀lıı̀deh. We are looking for students or individuals who are self-motivated, team oriented with positive attitudes to fill the following positions starting January 2025. This program will be at the Dettah Youth Center and Ndilo Chekoa Program (Blue School).

Chekoa Coordinator (Monday – Friday, 3pm-9pm, $25/hour)

Responsible for coordinating activities for the community wellness program which includes afterschool program, academic activities, cultural activities,



ensuring the schedule is followed and to assist with all other special events and activities such as girls’ night and family night.

Chekoa Assistant (Monday – Friday, 3pm-9pm, $20/hour)

Work closely with the Chekoa Coordinator on programming and activities.

Afterschool Worker (Monday – Friday, 3pm-6pm, $18/hour)

Work with children and youth at the Afterschool Program on arts, crafts, reading, academic activities. Play board games, build the children and youth in literacy skills. This position is located at the Dettah Youth Centre and Ndilo Blue School.

Senior Tutor (Flexible work schedule, $30/hour)

Responsible for assisting children and youth with academic assistance.

Culture Coordinator (Tuesday & Thursday, 6pm-8pm, $150/day)

Organize weekly hand games practice for both Dettah and Ndilo, teach youth hand signs and drumming.

Requirements:

Must be 15 years of age or older;

Minimum Grade 10;

Must be in school;

First Aid/CPR;

Clean criminal record check;

Must be a team player, willingness to learn with positive attitude
