POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting into the Director of Finance the Senior Accountant will oversee our Indigenous entities, assist in budget/forecast process, lead the year end review engagement and assist in month end related tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning & Analysis:

- Prepare variance reports comparing actual performance to budgets and forecasts
- Assist Accounting Manager in putting together monthly financial statements and reporting package
- Analyze P&L; discrepancies

Budgeting & Forecasting:

- Assist the Director of Finance in developing the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and maintain financial models to support P&L; reviews

Accounting:

- Prepare financial statements (income statement & balance sheet) and Work in Progress (WIP)



reports for joint venture and partnership entities
- Become subject matter expert (SME) with our Indigenous relationships that includes:
- Joint Venture, Partnerships, Subsidiaries
- Ensure GST setup is done correctly for the entity

- Lead and be main contact for year end Review Engagement
- Lead and be main contact for year end Audit for Indigenous partnership
- Complete quarterly capital asset review and potential impairment testing with operational team
- Be up to date with current ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Entities) requirements and apply them accordingly

Other:

- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Finance
- process map accounting functions

- Learn Data Rails (FP&A; platform) and become a SME (subject matter expert)
- Utilizing technology and AI to work more efficiently and effectively




- Assist and support finance team members with various ad hoc reports and requests
- Support internal IT needs with external IT Managed Service Provider

Health and Safety

- Reads, understands, and follows Milestone’s Corporate Health and Safety Program, Policy and Procedures. Ensures health and safety is considered in the performance of all activities both on and off the job. Participation in H & S initiatives will be monitored and reviewed, as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Certification Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree
- CPA designation

Experience Required:

- At least 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance.
- Working at a CPA firm or a construction industry and/or some exposure to Indigenous partners is preferred, but not a requirement.
- 1 Year post designation minimum
- Hands on experience with preparing,



analyzing and reconciling financial statements is essential

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate multiple, often competing, tasks and timelines.
- Comfortable working and collaborating with all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite, specifically Excel
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Keen to take on challenges and contribute to the success of the team and company.
