Reporting to the Senior Manager, Pricing,



the Senior Pricing & Rates Specialist will assist with the coordination, review, and negotiation of client fee arrangements under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Pricing. The role will work closely with members of the Pricing team, the Billing Management Committee and our Client Billing Services team to achieve the common goal of timely and accurate financial processing of our client financial arrangements.

Major Responsibilities:

- Coordinate aspects of client fee arrangements under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Pricing, ensuring accurate and timely billing, including assessment of priorities and assignment to relevant team members
- Work closely with the Senior Manager, Pricing to ensure alignment of various pricing strategies
- Proactively monitor the progress of rate renewal and enable a tracking system to give client relationship partners adequate time to engage in negotiating fee arrangements with their clients
- Liaise with our Billing Management Committee and others in managing annual fee arrangements and Alternative Fee Arrangement structures
- Communicate regular updates and escalation plans to Senior Manager,



Pricing as required
- Participate in the rate renewal for clients under special fee arrangement by analyzing profitability of fee arrangements, making recommendation to the responsible partners and assisting the partners with the rate negotiation if required
- Work closely with our billing compliance team and members of the Pricing and Legal Project Management team to ensure rate arrangements are seamlessly, accurately, and efficiently implemented
- Engage in quality control measures to ensure accuracy of data in the Rates Database, ADERANT, and other systems as required

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

This position requires a university degree, preferably in a business discipline and a minimum of five years of progressive experience.



Prior work experience in a finance/business analytics/project management function within the legal or professional services industry is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.

Knowledge and Skills

- General experience working in a law firm Finance department and familiarity with how eBilling systems function (e.g. Legal Tracker, Counsellink, Tymetrix, etc.) and accounting systems (e.g. Aderant)
- An understanding of law firm economics, billing processes, and pricing strategies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly responsive with a service-oriented attitude
- Personal integrity and judgment, coupled with a strong work ethic
- Self-motivated, highly organized with excellent time management skills
- Proven ability to work as part of a team. Capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships to become a trusted advisor to lawyers,



assistants, administrative personnel, and a willingness to cooperate and share knowledge
- Strong analytical skills to look beyond financial data / report and prepare concise and actionable insight to aid business decision making and risk assessment
- Persuasive and clear communicator to effectively negotiate terms with the Firm’s clients while maintaining positive relationships between the Firm and their clients
- Solid knowledge of Excel and other MS Office products is a requirement; use of the following financial analytical and reporting tools is considered an asset: SQL, MS Access, ADERANT, and Power BI
- Strong interest in technology and strong computer literacy; proven ability to learn new software and programs and keep up to date with developments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment,



juggling priorities and dealing with large amounts of information efficiently and effectively
