POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of environmental activities to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, families, and staff.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Cleans assigned area by washing furnishings and equipment with cleaning solutions; disinfects to prevent the spread of disease.
- Scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Uses dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to dust windowsills, blinds, floor, and furniture.
- Empties trash baskets and recycling containers.
- Makes beds with clean linen in prescribed manner.
- Scours, disinfects, and polishes work as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, employees, and Hospital information.
- Completes other related duties as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS




- Work may include lifting, pulling, carrying, and pushing. Considerable walking, standing, with occasional bending and stooping. May be in frequent contact with water, cleaning, and disinfectant solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of High School Diploma or the equivalent (Essential).
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning, sanitation process, and housekeeping techniques (Essential).
- Experience in hospital cleaning procedures such as dealing with infectious disease (Preferred).
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills (Essential).
- Ability to work with limited supervision (Essential).
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand oral English instructions and procedures (Essential).
- Criminal Record Check (Essential).
- Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred).

- Please note you will be represented by the Laborers International Union of North America, (LiUNA 3000).

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam,



or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.

Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
