On behalf of our client, a prestigious wealth management firm based in Toronto, we are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join their team.
The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) is a versatile and impactful role with a wide range of responsibilities, spanning general finance, accounting, and data analysis. In this position, you will be instrumental in performing corporate accounting and finance functions while driving operational efficiencies and enabling strategic decision-making. Collaborating closely with senior leadership, including the CFO, you will design and implement advanced financial models, enhance data accuracy, and deliver meaningful insights that support organizational success.
Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Streamline and automate reporting and forecasting processes for efficiency.
- Periodically review account reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support financial planning and strategic decisions.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive monthly and quarterly reporting packages for senior leadership.
- Handle ad hoc reporting and other duties as required.
Data Analysis & Insights
- Gather, clean, and analyze data from diverse sources to support decision-making.
- Reconcile large datasets across multiple systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Perform data validation and quality checks to maintain data integrity.
- Conduct exploratory analyses to identify trends and anomalies.
- Build adaptable financial models for scenario analysis and forecasting.
- Leverage data models and sources to perform detailed financial analyses.
- Create clear and compelling visualizations to present complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for financial data requests related to portfolio management systems.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/ accounting is required.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, CPA, or Certified Business Intelligence Professional are highly valued, but not a must.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a data analyst, financial analyst, or financial systems analyst.
- Experience in the financial services or asset management industry is a strong advantage.
- Advanced expertise in MS Excel, including creating complex macros and building financial models.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to transform large, raw datasets into structured, meaningful insights and actionable reports.
- Critical thinking with an inquisitive and curious mindset.
- Team-oriented with excellent collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with Harmony and Salesforce systems is a plus.
