Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Programs and Services, the Community Outreach and Program Support- Canada Summer Jobs is responsible for learning and assisting with all outreach and engagement in the communities Dixon Hall serves, and in the support of our Seniors Active Living Centre programs.

Duties and Responsibilities





- Support planning and implementation of outreach events and initiatives to promote Dixon Hall’s programs, services, and special initiatives.
- Liaise with program staff and management to address client concerns, issues or requests and follow-up and monitor as necessary.
- Provide support with shopping and preparation for programs, and transportation of materials.
- Support delivery of programs and events in the community, including in public spaces, on site with other service providers, or seniors housing facilities.
- Projects as determined by supervisor or manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

Canada Summer Jobs Requirements

- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in,



or recently completed, post-secondary education in social worker or another related program.
- Knowledge and understanding of working with seniors and adults with a disability or illness.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to accept supervision and seek counsel.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and database management.
- Dependable, punctual and flexible.
- Second language an asset.
- Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
- Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
- Must have up-to-date vaccinations against COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
