- Completion of the first year of a recognized degree in Education, History, Native Studies, Arts and Cultural Management or Social Studies an asset
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in teaching, program development, interpretation or related museum field
Skills required for success:
- Knowledge of all aspects of program development and delivery including approaches to youth education
- Solid knowledge and understanding of local and Western Canadian history
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Google apps and other computer software programs

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position

This unique Fort School Educator & Education Supervisor role offers a chance to connect with local and Western Canadian history in a meaningful way, inspiring the next generation of learners. You’ll join a passionate team and play a key role in shaping impactful educational experiences for young people from diverse backgrounds. During the non-instructional season, you will supervise, coach and mentor our Education Interpreters as they lead engaging field trips onsite, ensuring a rich and immersive learning environment.
This role requires a genuine passion for history, a commitment to inclusive education, and strong communication skills to engage with diverse audiences.
What will you do?
- Work in collaboration with teachers in developing program outline, lesson plans, scheduling, billing and administration of Fort School experience
- Lead and co-teach each Fort School weeks
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate staff such as Human History Interpreters
- Manage procurement and administration of supplies and other materials
- Liaise with booking agents for scheduling building availability and other special requests
- Provide data and analysis of the Fort School experience statistics
- Attend Inquiring Minds site school meetings with other Inquiring Minds educators
- Promote the program through attending information nights, creating promotional material and being involved with the education community
- Report to the Structured Educational Experiences Coordinator on a bi-weekly basis to monthly basis
- Assist with program development and general Education Department operations such as scheduling, timesheets and attendance at committee meetings
- Provide onsite supervisory duties, replying to customer service requests and responding to incidents
- Perform other duties as required
