The Position Highlights
Title:
Security Consultant – (Cybersecurity Consultant)
Commitment and Term
- Permanent, Full time
- Regular hours: Monday-Friday 8 am – 5 pm, with on-call rotation and some after-hours support required
Primary Focus
We are looking for an experienced Intermediate to Senior Cybersecurity Consultant to work within a highly skilled Consulting team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert guidance, strategic advice, and hands-on support to our clients in safeguarding their digital assets. You will work closely with various stakeholders to identify risks, develop robust security measures, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This position is ideal for a results oriented,

Key Responsibilities
- Security Assessments and Audits
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments and audits for clients to identify potential vulnerabilities and threats.
- Analyze existing security measures and recommend improvements to enhance overall security posture.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings and recommendations.
- Incident Response and Management
- Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures.
- Lead and coordinate incident response efforts during security breaches or cyber-attacks.
- Investigate and analyze security incidents to determine root causes and mitigate risks.
- Security Consulting and Advisory
- Provide strategic security advice and guidance to clients and co-workers on best practices and emerging threats.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct security awareness training for client staff to promote a culture of security.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on consulting and advisory roles.
- Security industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CEH, and/or post-secondary education are highly desirable.
- Alternatively, an appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and regulations (e.g. NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,
with the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in security technologies and tools, such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability assessment tools.
- Strong commitment to ethical behavior and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Adaptability and flexibility in dealing with changing client needs and environments.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for continuous learning and professional development staying up to date with the latest trends and developments in the security landscape.
- Ability to remain calm and work efficiently in stressful circumstances
Working Conditions
- This position can be based out of any of the ESW office locations (Calgary, Edmonton, Fort St. John, Grande Prairie, or Victoria.
- ESW Consultants provide a combination of on-site and remote client support
- Some client sites require safety certifications such as First Aid, WHIMIS, H2S
- Provide after-hours support as required
- Participate in an after-hours on-call scheduled rotation
- This role can be physically demanding at times requiring carrying, setting up and servicing of hardware weighing up to 50 lbs. in a variety of office environments
- Will require own vehicle with insurance appropriate to business use
- The successful candidate must comply with the safety standards of ESW and/or its clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationships
- Security Consultant reports to Operations Manager,
Security Services
- No co-workers report to the Security Consultant Analyst.
