HOURS - May be called for a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and overnights. Must be available to work a minimum of 5 shifts each month including one overnight shift and 2 shifts on a weekend.

How You Will Make an Impact

The successful candidate will extend our mission to residential and non-residential clients through the provision of respectful and appropriate shelter support services. This may include case management,



crisis intervention and supportive counseling. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a challenging and rewarding values-based environment.

- Provide primary support to families residing in the emergency shelter
- Maintain safety and security of the shelter facility including hourly facility checks, answering phones and doors, and apartment inspections
- Residential tasks including unit turnovers, unit cleaning, cleaning of common spaces, preparing coffee and breakfast, and house laundry
- Maintain quality client records in HIFIS and EMhware.
- Maintain confidentiality with regards to clients/staff and Centre's records
- Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring to Our Team

- Post-secondary education in social services or a related field is required
- Have strong knowledge of, or experience working with a range of issues impacting women, and families including homelessness, violence against women and children, immigration, poverty, mental illness and substance use




- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the housing system in Hamilton, the Residential Tenancies Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code required
- Understand and be comfortable working from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in community outreach or emergency shelter
- Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
- CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
- Valid G license required
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
