About the Role:
The Facilities Manager plays a key role in delivering world-class guest experiences at Sweat and Tonic. This role provides efficient support to existing locations for mission-critical issues. The Facilities Manager manages all facility repair and maintenance directly, personally resolving issues and managing 3rd party maintenance contracts and one off-projects where appropriate.
You will provide full on-site operational support during handover and “dry-run” periods for new builds and major capital expense projects. This role requires thorough "hands-on" generalist experience in maintenance and repair and will be expected to use this on a regular basis. Priorty attention should be given to revenue generating assets and high-use amenities with with experience in exercise bike and treadmill repair preferable. You are responsible for advising and training operations teams to be self-sufficient in their repair and maintenance needs including sharing best-practices for upkeep and preventative maintenance work. You are responsible for maintaining accurate records, inventory controls and for implementing and adhering to a quarterly paint touch ups schedule. The Facilities Manager will directly manage and coordinate basic capital upgrade projects. Emergency responses,
overnight and weekend work is required on an as-needed basis.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the optimization of the repair and maintenance program in all locations.
- Ensure the processes and systems are in place for store managers to maintain the look and feel of their stores in a timely manner.
- Manage the contact list for all vendors pertaining to repair and maintenance.
- Ensure each store has an adequate number of key vendors to call upon to maintain the look and feel of their store.
- Implement a program of preventative maintenance on staionary bikes.
- After completion of a 3rd party training program, reduce downtime through efficient repair of stationary bikes.
- Act as "first up" solution provider for all repair and maintenance issues. Train on-site teams to reduce reliance on the Facilities Manager.
- Repair and maintenance 3rd party vendor management
- Ensure that preferred vendors have a competitive, negotiated rate and that their performance is monitored and meets business needs.
- Planned maintenance program procurement for existing and all new locations
- Manage a program of centralized maintenance including sourcing, contract negotiation and monitoring of performance.
- Responsible for the execution of a risk assessment program.
- Complete risk assessments in all locations each fiscal year.
- Report findings of each Risk Assessment in corporate strategy plan and develop a financial budget to address all immediate and imminent threats or risks.
- Upon completion of each Risk Assessment, an action plan to be developed. Ensure identified issues are actioned and completed.
- Complete annual Education seminars on effective methods that address “what to do when” a store is faced with a repair and mainenance issue.
- Responsible for location and regional leadership being educated on the primary repair and maintenance issues that a typical will face along with their potential solutions.
- When asked for assistance from a location manager, provide the necessary support for them to solve the issue they have swiftly and effectively.
- Respond to location inquiries, queries and requests for assistance as necessary.
- Complete any other task pertinent to the position as request by the Director of Construction.
- This includes the primary contact for 911 store issues. CRF/Capital projects as assigned.

- You can develop new and enhance existing programs that optimize the repair and maintenance and risk assessment programs.
- You have experience managing vendors including negotiating contracts and dispute resolution.
- You have a rounded skill set within the trade industry. A range of carpentry, electrical, mechanical,
plumbing, exercise equipment repair experience a strong asset.
- You enjoy working longer hours in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Interest in health and fitness is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary $60 - $80k per annum dependant on experience
- Enrollment in annual management bonus plan targetted at 10%
