The Manager of Housing Support Program – Woodlawn and Housing Help is responsible for housing support programs in YWCA Toronto’s permanent housing portfolio at Woodlawn Residence including the Housing Help program. This position includes the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of tenant education, community development, support programs and clinical consultation for teams in accordance with the mission of YWCA Toronto, the needs of tenants and our funders. This middle management position is responsible for contributing to the overall management of the Association.

ABOUT YWCA TORONTO – HOUSING SUPPORT PROGRAM
YWCA Toronto Housing Support Program offers a range of housing options for women, women led households and gender diverse people, including permanent and supportive housing at a variety of YWCA owned and operated locations. Individual and group support assists tenants to identify and build the skills required to the address the barriers they experience in their lives and to maintain their housing.



Barriers tenants and their children experience include mental health and/ or addictions, poverty and experiences of violence. Supports are intended to assist women and gender diverse people to build the skills required to participate in their community both inside and outside of the building and if they are able and ready, to move to housing without supports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensures capacity building/training for teams, covering a range of topics and skills, including workshops and training days coordinated with managers with an emphasis on application and integration of knowledge;
- Supports teams in their work with participants who experience complex mental health/trauma and provide consultation from a trauma informed, anti-oppression framework;
- Works co-operatively with other administrative and program managers in the Shelter,



Permanent Housing and Property Services Departments to ensure consistency in program delivery and approach;
- Ensures the policies and procedures for selection of tenants adhere to the guidelines as provided by legislation and funding bodies;
- Provides a leadership role in the development and implementation of community development objectives;
- Prepares and monitors operating budgets for YWCA Toronto’s permanent housing and tenant support programs in consultation with the Director of Shelter and Clinical Services;
- Ensures that fiscal goals are met and prepares contingency plans, when required;
- Directs and actively negotiates all new government purchase of service agreements and community partnerships in consultation with the Director;
- Prepares budgets and reports for submission to funders.

QUALIFICATIONS





- Advanced knowledge of concepts and theories of social work, group work and counselling normally acquired through the completion of a graduate degree in Social Work, Community Development or other relevant field (Cases for equivalency will be considered);
- Three to five years’ experience delivering clinical case work consultation, and directly related housing experience;
- Highly developed understanding of community development practices and knowledge of community resources are required;
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation that includes the Residential Tenancy Act, Housing Services Act (HSA), Mental Health Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code, as well as government policies related to alternative housing management is necessary;
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required;




- Knowledge of financial and human resource management required as well as previous work in a culturally diverse, unionized environment;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, including conflict resolution, crisis intervention/prevention, counselling, and coaching;
- Demonstrated leadership skills in problem solving and organizational and time management;
- A thorough knowledge of women's services and access and equity issues is required;
- Ability to produce and generate reports using current computer applications e.g. EMHware, Windows 10 Professional, Office Professional, GP Dynamics, information databases.
